Hales Restoration for CDyoung
This is a pretty standard restoration except for the very large burrs that have to be removed. Another thing that is odd about this one is that it doesn’t seem to have the dark protective coating that others do. It’s in very nice condition light surface rust and only a tiny bit of pitting on the bottom ring of the Hales.
I wound up having to file down each of the burrs because they were so thick that I couldn’t just cut them off with an exacto blade like I usually do. It was a little more time consuming than usual. Once the burrs were removed it went real smooth. Removing the burrs helps me wire-wheel it clean quicker, and ruins less wire-wheels. Other positive is that I’m not covered in as many wires when I’m done.
